Once you have installed Ultima Online you will need to patch your client. To patch your client you will need to double click the UO Icon that was placed on your desktop during installation. This will open a medium-sized window on your desktop, in the bottom of the window you will see that it is downloading and installing various updates for the game. Please pay close attention to this bottom section during the process. Each patch session will tell you which "client" it is downloading and installing. We suggest using 6.0.13. Allow this client to download then install competely before hitting the cancel button on the right side of the window.
Sometimes depending on which client you are starting with you may find that it is necessary to patch more than one time to get all the way to 6.0.13. If you are starting with a version of UO that was released prior to UO:ML then you will find that you can only patch to around 5.0.9.x with the icon that was placed on your desktop. If this happens it is still possible to patch further. Below is a step by step process of how to patch beyond the UOPatch client that versions prior to UO:ML start with.
1. Make sure that you have completed and closed any patch sessions prior to starting this procedure.
2. Open your C:/drive on your computer.
3. Select Program Files (Program Files x86 if you are using Vista or Windows 7).
4. Select the EAGames folder.
5. Select the folder that is inside there (the name of this folder will vary depending on which version of UO you are starting with, I am using Ultima Online Anniversary Edition so that is what my folder is called.)
6. Right click anywhere in the screen and select "Sort By" then select "Type". This will place the majority of your game Clients in the front of the list so that you can find them easily.
7. You will see multpile clients in this list. You want the one that is simply named "client".
8. Double click the "client" and it will open a new patch session and with this one you will now be able to patch all the way to 6.0.13 or higher.
